About the Hub
The NetZero Training Hub at City of Portsmouth College was developed in partnership with Portsmouth City Council.
The Council is committed to reducing carbon emissions and identified in 2019 that one of the fundamental risks in delivering NetZero is the availability of a skilled workforce.
The Local Government Association have identified a need for over 694,000 skilled jobs in the ‘Green Economy’ by 2030 rising to over 1.2 million by 2050. There are currently 185,000 people employed. Hampshire County Council have estimated the need for over 6000 workers in the County to retrofit domestic dwellings by 2050.
The NetZero Training Hub has been developed to train local people who can be employed, create new business and develop new products and services that will contribute to the decarbonisation challenge in Portsmouth.
The NetZero Training Hub will play a crucial part in enabling people to secure well paid jobs and careers in what is the largest and most important sector in the world today.
